For nearly two decades, I worked to ensure properties were safe for others. It took one moment in the desert to realize I hadn’t built that same safety for myself. That realization didn’t just change my career. It reshaped how I think about risk, responsibility, and what it means to truly provide for my family.
The moment that changed everything didn’t happen in an office. It happened in the Mojave Desert.
I was alone, investigating illegal dumping on a scorching afternoon. The heat was relentless. No cell signal. No nearby help. As I cleared debris, I lifted a board and startled at what moved beneath it. Convinced it was a Mojave green rattlesnake, I stepped back quickly, lost my footing, and fell hard. I twisted to protect myself, but my shoulder took the impact. I felt the pain immediately.
Lying there, alone and in pain, one thought rose above everything else: my children.
For nearly twenty years, I worked as a code compliance officer for San Bernardino County, ensuring properties were safe and compliant. I took pride in that responsibility. As a single mother at the time, it provided stability and purpose. But in that moment, I realized that while I had spent years protecting others, I had placed myself in situations that carried real risk.
That realization stayed with me.
Over time, I had worked alongside REALTORS®, observed transactions, and listened closely to the business. I understood properties at a deeper level than most—I could identify issues before they became problems. Real estate had crossed my mind before, but I hadn’t found a compelling reason to act.
The desert gave me that reason.
The injury forced me to slow down. Physical therapy post-surgery created space to think about how I was spending my time and what it was costing me. I began to see that my experience had prepared me for something else; work that still served people but allowed me to build a more sustainable and secure life for my family.
I made the transition, but the adjustment wasn’t immediate.
For the first time, I was fully responsible for structuring my days. After two decades in a defined role, I had to develop discipline in a new way. Progress came, but not consistently.
Then life interrupted again.
When my mother became terminally ill, I stepped away to care for her. After she passed in 2023, I found myself navigating grief while trying to regain momentum. It wasn’t a clean transition. Grief rarely is.
The turning point came in a direct conversation with my husband. He told me I wasn’t working to my full potential.
It was hard to hear, but it was true.
More importantly, it came from someone who believed in me. That made it impossible to ignore.
I returned to my work with clarity. I rejoined Nicole and Michael’s team at HomeSmart Evergreen Realty and approached the business with renewed discipline and purpose. Since then, my work has become more focused and intentional.
Outside of real estate, I’ve learned the importance of balance. Baking and gardening are reminders to slow down, to be patient, and to appreciate process over speed. That mindset carries into how I serve my clients.
Looking back, the thread is clear.
I spent years making sure properties were safe for others. Today, I help people make informed, confident decisions about where they live. The work is different, but the responsibility is the same.
Only now, it’s aligned with the life I’m building.
I bring over a decade of real estate experience, supported by nearly 20 years of hands-on knowledge in property conditions, zoning, and compliance through my work with San Bernardino County.
Clients trust me because I combine technical expertise with a steady, thoughtful approach. I explain each step clearly, respond promptly, and follow through consistently. There is no pressure—only guidance to help you make the right decision.
With both my husband and father having served as Veterans, I have a strong focus on helping Veterans and First Responders navigate the real estate process with clarity and confidence.
Having lived in Rancho Cucamonga for over 50 years, I understand the nuances of each area. Backed by a dedicated team at HomeSmart Evergreen Realty, I ensure no detail is overlooked.
When I commit to something, I follow through. That’s the standard I bring to every transaction.
Sincerely,
